What is Radiotherapy RapidArc?

Radiotherapy RapidArc is a new state-of-art technology of image guided used to improves tumor targeting. It is an extremely fast and precise form of IMRT ot sometimes known as Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy.

IMRT shapes the dose of the radiation in order to conform closely to the 3D shape of your tumor. With that being said, it means more radiation accurately gets delivered to the tumor and potentially less to the nearby healthy tissues. This medical device works in rotation 360 degrees around you and targets cancer cells within 2 to 3 minutes.

General Procedure often includes:

1. Lie down on the ring shaped machine
2. Wait 2 to 3 mins until the radiation is delivered

Q1: How many sessions will I require?
A1: This depends on your condition. If your cancer cells need a crucial treatment, then you may have to go through the treatment twice or thrice a week and extended to 6 to 7 weeks.

Q2: Will it hurt?
A2: It will not hurt. But side effects may occur.

Q3: Will I be exposed to radioactive substances?
A3: There are no radioactive substances used in medical linear accelerator. When RapidArc is switched on, radiation is produced and aimed directly at the cancerous cells only.

Q4: Will 1 session be enough for me?
A4: Various schedules will be arranged according to your cancer severity and body condition.
